Every contact has a donor status that Advocora calculates automatically from their giving history. You never set it by hand—it updates on its own as gifts are recorded.

The three statuses

Active donor

Has given at least one gift in the last 12 months.

Inactive donor

Has given before, but not within the last 12 months.

Non-donor

Has no recorded gifts yet.

How it updates

Donor status is always based on the most recent gift date:
  • Record a recent gift and a contact becomes an Active donor.
  • As time passes with no new gifts, an active donor eventually becomes Inactive.
  • A contact with no gifts at all is a Non-donor until their first gift is recorded.
Because it’s automatic, you don’t need to maintain it manually—just keep recording gifts and the status stays accurate.

Where you’ll see it

  • As a badge on each row of the contact list and on the contact’s profile.
  • As a filter on the Contacts page, so you can focus on just active donors, lapsed (inactive) donors, or people who haven’t given yet. See Find a contact.
Filtering by Inactive donor is a quick way to build a re-engagement or lapsed-donor outreach list.
