# Reconcile event buyers

> Link public event registrations and auction wins to the right contact, and backfill the missing gift.

When someone buys a ticket or wins an auction lot through a public event page but their email doesn't match an existing contact, the record lands in **Event match**. Their ticket and confirmation already went out—this step links them to a contact and records the gift.

<Note>
  Event match appears only when the Events module is enabled.
</Note>

## What you'll see

Each unmatched record shows when it happened, whether it's a **Ticket** or an **Auction win**, the amount, the buyer's name and email, and the event (or lot). Filter by event if you have several.

## Reconciling a record

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select a registration">
    Choose **Match** on a row.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the contact">
    Choose a suggested candidate (matched on email or name), or **create a new contact** — buyer details pre-fill the new record.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Optionally save the address">
    If an address was captured at purchase, tick to save it to the contact. It becomes primary only if the contact has no primary address yet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Link & create gift">
    Choose **Link & create gift**. The gift is added to giving history and the registration is tied to the contact.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  **Skip this registration** marks it resolved without creating a gift, and can't be undone. The attendee keeps their ticket either way—skipping only affects your giving records.
