# Bulk actions & export

> Tag, subscribe, or export many contacts at once.

When you need to act on more than one contact, select them in the list and use **Bulk Actions**. This saves you from repeating the same change one profile at a time.

## Select contacts

* Tick the checkbox next to any contact to select it.
* Use the checkbox in the column header to select everyone currently shown.
* A bar appears showing how many contacts are selected, with a **Clear selection** link to start over.

  Filter or search first, then select—so you're acting on exactly the right group. See [Find a contact](/contacts/find-contacts).

## Available bulk actions

With one or more contacts selected, open the **Bulk Actions** menu:

    Apply one or more tags to every selected contact at once.

  <Card title="Subscribe to List" icon="mail">
    Add the selected contacts to an email list.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Export Selected" icon="download">
    Download the selected contacts as a file for use elsewhere.
  </Card>

<Note>
  There's no bulk **delete**—this is intentional, to protect your data. Remove contacts one at a time from their profile. See [Manage a contact](/contacts/manage-a-contact).

## Permissions

Some actions depend on your role. For example, exporting contacts requires export permission. If you don't see an action, your administrator may not have granted it to your role.
